About Dr. Adams
Real talk. Real help. No judgment.
Dr. Joseph Adams is a dually licensed psychotherapist with over a decade in private practice — and a whole lot more before that.
Dr. Joe Adams enjoys helping people achieve optimal mental and emotional well-being. He has a particular passion for working with those navigating social anxiety, self-esteem and confidence challenges, trauma, sexuality and identity development, sexual performance concerns, pornography and masturbation addictions, drug and alcohol problems, and recovery maintenance — but his door is open to anyone ready to do the work.
Before private practice, Dr. Adams worked at nonprofits, state programs, inpatient and residential treatment centers, outpatient programs, and methadone maintenance clinics. He has taught college courses as an adjunct, provided clinical supervision, directed multiple programs, and served as a consultant. He also mentors counselors pursuing their CADC/LCADC, LAC/LPC, and fully licensed therapists seeking supervision for personal and professional growth.
For those dealing with drug, alcohol, or addiction-related concerns — no matter how mild or wild — Dr. Adams builds a treatment plan based on where each person is and what they hope to achieve. He conducts evaluations for courts and employers, and offers drug testing for parents or spouses supporting a loved one through the depths of addiction and the heights of recovery. He also works with Veterans seeking disability benefit evaluations.
